Doctors and nurses overhear him, and soon Mark becomes an international authority on the afterlife. People camp on his lawn to learn more. Mark develops a story about the "Man in the Sky," who functions like God, and he pastes his theology on two pizza boxes like Moses and the ten commandments. Mark learns to lie to help his friends, get money at the bank, cheat at the casino, and eventually to win the affection of Anna.

The Invention of Lying star: Jennifer Garner, Ricky Gervais, Rob Lowe, Jay Manuel and Matthew Perry at The Invention of Lying premiere in LA, CA at the Chinese Theatre on September 21, 2009.

The Invention of Lying (2009)- Trailer
The Invention of Lying comedy explores a world where everyone tells the truth until one writer tells a lie and uses the power for personal gain.

Charmingly Clever,
Author: Marie-Jeanne Cotner from United States

Brilliant concept and terrific execution. Wonderful casting.

Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner are absolutely believable throughout their respective characters' evolution, and they play off each other very well. In fact, everyone's performance is spot on. And the cinematography beautifully plays up (or down, rather) the fictional world which is the story's setting.

If you're hoping for non-stop one-liners and ridiculousness throughout, this is not your film. While this film's cheeky, pointed story is loaded with wit - including some side-splitting scenes (I cried with laughter watching Ricky Gervais' character face questions from a credulous crowd) - it has a real and rather serious plot. There is a point to this fiction, indeed.

I highly reccomend watching the Drama. The drama is like a novel; more extended than the movie. And the acting is more realistic and true to its heart.

I'm currently reading the english version of the book. There were some different things I noticed in this trailer but I still want to see it. Orange Range's song is perfect for this movie/story.

Happy accident,
Author: dianejwright from LA

Why was this movie good? It wasn't supposed to be good. It was supposed to be a piece-of-crap romantic comedy but instead, it's an excellent story in so many complicated, touching, veracious ways. In fact, in coming up with an IMDb score, I tried to think of any one thing that would detract from a perfect movie-watching experience and, can you believe it? I can't.

Who packaged and promoted this film? Were they sleeping during the screenings? From the first second, the quality of story and production was evident. Multi-faceted, varied characters. Nuanced storyline. Fine, fine performances. Beautifully done all around.

Thank you for this happy accident.

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner in The Kingdom as Janet Mayes aka Operation: Kingdom.

The Kingdom is a 2007 film directed by Peter Berg and starring Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Ashraf Barhom, with Kyle Chandler, Jeremy Piven and Ali Suliman.

The Kingdom film is fictional, but inspired by bombings at the Riyadh compound on May 12, 2003 and the Khobar housing complex on June 26, 1996 in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The story follows a team of FBI agents who investigate the bombing of a foreign-workers facility in Saudi Arabia. Screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan has summarised the plot as "What would a murder investigation look like on Mars?”

The Kingdom film was screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival as its yearly 'Surprise Movie' on 22 August 2007.

One of the most powerful movies I have ever watched.,
Author: minerva1961 from United Kingdom

I've given this movie a 10 rating - not because it is "excellent" but because it is so intense, as someone who has lived through the troubles in Ireland and experienced terrorism first hand I have to say that I was shocked at the realism of this movie, I thought Bourne three was intense but this takes it to a new level and I think it is because it is so real and here and now. The third part of this movie I had to pause and come back to as it was just 'too real'..

There are comments about the acting, the music and even the camera work here - couldn't even begin to pass comment on any of those as the story was so intense, this is not your average action gung-ho movie, this is real life and one of the most powerful movies I have ever watched, my thanks and hats off to EVERYONE involved in this movie.

Jennifer Garner Elektra

Jennifer Garner appeared in Elektra as Elektra Natchios.

Elektra is a 2005 action movie directed by Rob Bowman. It is a spin-off to the 2003 movie Daredevil, starring the Marvel comics character Elektra Natchios (played by Jennifer Garner). The story follows Elektra, an international assassin whose weapon of choice is a pair of Sai.

For the screenplay, Zak Penn, Stuart Zicherman and Raven Metzner received "written by" credit. Mark Steven Johnson received credit for "motion picture characters" and Frank Miller for "comic book characters."

Decent Flick,
10/10
Author: panman1 from United States

If you like most of the Marvel movies that have come out recently, then you should enjoy Elektra. It is better then the Daredevil, Hulk, Punisher and just below X-Men and Spider-man. The villains were perfectly casted, I only wish they had longer fight scenes. The locations were awesome and the lighting was great. The biggest problem here is that a lot if important info is left out IE Who are the villains, What is the story behind the Good vs Evil battle, Why was Elektra's mom targeted and other stuff. Like I said, my main complaint is that the villains didn't get enough face time, and we didn't get to find out why they were there and their story. Anyways, ignore these haters and go see this movie.

Jennifer Garner 13 Going on 30
"Jennifer Garner in 13 Going on 30" as Jenna Rink

13 Going On 30 (known as Suddenly 30 in Australia) is a 2004 romantic comedy film starring Jennifer Garner. 13 Going On 30 has a similar premise to the films Wish Upon a Star, and Freaky Friday, in which girls' souls were swapped into different bodies, as well as the classic short story, Rip Van Winkle, in which a young person falls asleep and wakes up many years later as an older person. Unlike the movies Big, Vice Versa, and 14 Going on 30, in which boys were physically transformed into adult men, in 13 Going On 30 movie a 13-year-old girl appears to skip 17 years of her life, and wakes up as a successful magazine editor in the future. 13 Going On 30 was produced by Revolution Studios for Columbia Pictures.

Wonderful!,
10/10
Author: mercywriter from United States

In a time when most movies turn out to be a waste of my time, what a pleasant surprise to find this gem. On the surface, it might look like just another romantic comedy. But there was a depth to this movie that surprised and captivated me. A lot of good messages for young girls, 13, 30, and any age before or after. And what an interesting commentary on society. Through the eyes of an innocent 13 year old, who just happens to have the body of an adult, we see just how shallow, false, and empty modern society can be.

Jennifer Garner is adorable. She exudes a fresh innocence that makes it very believable she is a 13 year old in a 30 year old body. And Mark Ruffalo! He was a surprisingly wonderful hero. I have since seen him in other movies, but this was the first time.

A definite keeper, and one my whole family enjoys watching, over and over again.

Jennifer Garner-Daredevil

Jennifer Garner-Daredevil"Jennifer Garner-Daredevil" as Elektra Natchios.

Daredevil is a 2003 American superhero film written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson. Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, the film stars Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights for justice in the courtroom and out of the courtroom as the masked vigilante Daredevil. Jennifer Garner plays his love interest Elektra Natchios, Colin Farrell plays the merciless assassin Bullseye and Michael Clarke Duncan plays Wilson Fisk, also known as the crime lord Kingpin.

The film began development in 1997 at 20th Century Fox and Columbia Pictures, before New Regency acquired the rights in 2000. Johnson chose to shoot the film primarily in Downtown Los Angeles despite the Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan setting of the film and the comics. Rhythm and Hues Studios were hired to handle the film's CGI needs. Graeme Revell composed the Daredevil score which was released in March 2003, whereas the soundtrack to the film was released in February.

Reviews of the film were generally mixed or average. Despite this, the film still enjoyed a profitable theatrical run and became February's second biggest release. The film was successful enough to allow a spin-off film, Elektra, which was released in 2005. A 30 minutes longer R-rated director's cut of the film was released in 2005, which included an entire sub-plot removed from the theatrical release. This version has been considered an improvement to the theatrical release.

Directer's Cut made it sooooo much better,

Author: jappetta99 from United States

As I titled this, I really enjoyed the movie since I am comic nerd, but I rated this as a 5 out of 10. I got the Directer's Cut for Christmas and OH MY GOD it made this movie so much better. The subplot with Coolio really rounds out the character's of Matt and Foggy and little scenes added back in here and there like Matt's rituals after patrol and in the morning, and the extended version of him and Elektra on the roof before the rain made part of the ending make more sense. One thing I really enjoyed was the additional time to developing the Kingpin and making him really seem like a bad guy helped a lot. All in all whoever made the call to cut all this stuff from the movie should be fired from the studio because the theatrical release was a butchery and a farce. I felt bad having to admit that I didn't like the movie too much at first, but now I can tell people how much it kicked a$$ (didn't know if curses were allowed).

Jennifer Garner - Catch Me If You Can.

Jennifer Garner celeb data baseJennifer Garner predict a gown red carpet specials peopleJennifer Garner appeared in Catch Me If You Can as Cheryl Ann Cameo Role

Catch Me If You Can is a 2002 comedy-drama crime film based on the life of Frank Abagnale Jr., who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars by posing as a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor and Louisiana attorney and parish prosecutor. His primary crime was check forgery, becoming so skillful that the FBI eventually turned to him for help. Steven Spielberg directed the film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Abagnale, as well as Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Amy Adams, Martin Sheen, and Nathalie Baye.

Development for Catch Me If You Can film started as far back as 1980. With the beginning of the 21st century, filmmakers such as David Fincher, Gore Verbinski, Lasse Hallström, Miloš Forman and Cameron Crowe were at one point involved with Catch Me if You Can. Spielberg (who was originally involved as producer) decided to become the project's director, dropping out of Big Fish and Memoirs of a Geisha. Filming took place from February to May 2002. Catch Me If You Can received financial and critical success, and the real Abagnale greeted the film positively. A Broadway musical adaptation of the same name is in development.

A lot of fun,
9/10

Author: rbverhoef (rbverhoef@hotmail.com) from The Hague, Netherlands

While watching 'Catch Me If You Can' I had so much fun I smiled constantly. Well, that smile was interrupted by laughs. The movie tells the story of Frank W. Abignale, Jr. who is just a kid as he pretends to be a schoolteacher. After his father and mother get a divorce he runs away and starts pretending to be a co-pilot, a doctor, a lawyer. The way he does this is funny and brilliant.

I am not a big fan of Leonardo DiCaprio who plays Frank but in this movie he is perfect. He gives a very fine performance. Tom Hanks is the FBI-agent Carl who is after him, and as always Hanks is good.

The story is inspired by a real story. I don't know in how many ways it is true but watching this guy all I wanted to see was him pulling more of his nice little tricks. The scene where he pretends to be a schoolteacher is just great. If you want a nice funny movie, not too heavy, this one will definitely please you.

Author: ombudsgirl from New York

I know, it's not rare to see really small Rennie's Landing movies with developed, interesting characters and a great storyline in theaters, but I wish some of them didn't slip through the Hollywood cracks so easily. This (Rennie's Landing) movie is so great, and I can't even pick a specific reason why. While not Oscar-worthy, I just liked all of it: the characters, the performances, the photography, the editing, the story, everything. Not to mention that it's thought-provoking, which is more than I can say for the majority of (Rennie's Landing) movies with wide releases. (Rennie's Landing) Movies like this are perfect examples for why independent movies need to paid more respect than they are.

Jennifer Garner - Pearl Harbor (aka Pearl Harbour)

Jennifer Garner kernelJennifer Garner appeared in Pearl Harbor (aka Pearl Harbour) as Nurse Sandra. Pearl Harbor is a 2001 epic war film directed by Michael Bay.

Pearl Harbor features a large ensemble cast, including Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin, Jon Voight, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Dan Aykroyd, Colm Feore, Mako, Tom Sizemore, Jaime King, and Jennifer Garner.

Pearl Harbor is a dramatic re-imagining of the Empire of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor Naval Base and the subsequent Doolittle Raid and was produced by Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer, who had previously worked on blockbusters such as Armageddon and The Rock. Some of Pearl Harbor's scenes were among the last to be filmed in Technicolor.

Bombed, torpedoed, sunk, Pearl Harbor will appeal to many with its big names, its schmaltzy and contrived love story, its special effects for their own sake and its simplistic appeals to patriotism, morality and retaliatory violence. Yet the reality is that its just another installment in Hollywood's ongoing butchery of history for its own corporate ends: film-makers who use events like the bombing of Pearl Harbor want to exploit its sentiment but feel no duty to do it justice historically. The tepid disclaimer offered by its makers - that this movie is actually a 'love story' and not a docu-drama - should be swallowed by no-one (why then call the movie "Pearl Harbor" and not "Hearts across Oahu"?) The disappointing outcome of this misrepresentation is that many, if not most will leave the cinemas or turn off the DVD and think "So, that was what it was all about..!" Actually, it was probably nothing like this.

The movie goes for about three hours when less than two would have sufficed, and the surplus length can be attributed to both prolonged scenes of the bombing raid on Pearl Harbor itself, and the set-up of perhaps the most pointless and pitiful love triangle in cinematic history. Beckinsale, Affleck and Hartnett tango around each other for far too long, combining disinterested looks with utterly ridiculous platitudes and emotional observations (in fact the whole screenplay for this movie ranges from mediocre to utterly atrocious). Inserting a love story into an epic war movie is tantamount to breast enhancement surgery: get it wrong and the whole package will look utterly ridiculous - and this one was done by a butcher, not a master surgeon. Perhaps the screen writing budget was instead spent on the special effects and bombing scenes, which were too long and offered nothing except a half-hour of noise, cacophony and flying things. It added no meaning or redemption to the film - and by this stage it was craving for it, after the romantic interludes.

Of course every Hollywood blockbuster needs absolution and resolution, so there's some of that. Cuba Gooding Jnr. plays a black USN cook who, in the heat of battle, mans a gun and shoots some Jap planes, despite being racially excluded from such duties (those canny Afro-Americans, they're always fighting for rather than against their oppressors). Alec Baldwin plays an Army officer who leads a token retaliatory raid on Tokyo four months after Pearl Harbor. Jon Voight does a good job of looking and sounding vaguely like FDR, so full of vigor that he at one stage jumps up out of his wheelchair. Even the Japanese who plan and lead the Pearl Harbour attack, when hearing of its success, seem aware that their actions have doomed them to inevitable defeat. It's all enough to gladden the heart of the most retrospectively-patriotic American. A shame though that reality and patriotism don't make good bedfellows, and that this appalling movie is a simple-minded sideshow that doesn't honor the Pearl Harbor dead, it downright embarrasses them.

Jennifer Garner - Dude, Where's My Car?

Jennifer Garner kernelJennifer Garner appeared in Dude, Where's My Car? as Wanda. Dude, Where's My Car? is a 2000 comedy film directed by Danny Leiner. Dude, Where's My Car? is about the journey of 2 young men (Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott) to find their stolen car.

Dude, Where's My Car? film received poor reviews from critics, but was a modest box-office success, and has managed to develop a small cult following after its DVD and home video release.

The title of Dude, Where's My Car? film has become a benchmark of popular culture of the time of its release. Dude, Where's My Car? is referenced widely in many different situations, an example being Dude, Where's My Country?, the title of a political book by Michael Moore criticising post-9/11 America.

Dude, Where's My Car? ....FUNNY!!!, 10/10Dude Where's My Car is one of those movies that is so stupid, that it is hilarious. I could not stop laughing throughout this movie. My favourite scene is the Chinese food place one. I've never laughed so hard at a movie. I totally recommend this movie to people who like stupid comedy.

Jennifer Garner - 1999, Subtle and hilarious.

Jennifer Garner celeb data base peopleJennifer Garner appeared in 1999 as Annabell (aka Girls & Boys). Director: Nick Davis; Writer: Nick Davis (writer).

Subtle and hilarious, 9/10Caught 1999 movie on Sundance Channel, couldn't believe how good it was. Why wasn't it released? Or was it? (There are too many indie movies out there, I guess...) 1999 movie is basically about a bunch of control freaks at a new year's Eve party in New York City, all of whom are fantastically well drawn anxiety-filled New Yorkers. Director Davis has caught New Yorkers' self-absorption perfectly, but unlike, say, Seinfeld, the characters are actually trying to better themselves, and struggling with real, deep issues of identity and self-worth. And unlike Whit Stillman's movies (which I guess this is like, although I enjoyed it way more than Metropolitan), the movie really knows when to laugh at these characters, and when to feel with them.

And then, for good measure, there are Steven Wright and Buck Henry giving unexpected and wonderful performances. Steven Wright is amazingly funny, and Buck Henry really sad and sensitive, kind of in the Jack Lemmon role of the father of the host of the party, only doing a real job of acting, not whining like Lemmon now does.

I haven't heard much about 1999 movie (other than Sundance Channel) or this filmmaker, but I bet that in ten years we'll all be scratching our heads trying to remember who Ed Burns was (wish I could say the same thing for Kevin Smith, but the guy's too much of an operator to go away) and plunking down our cash, if it is cash we're still using (the movie is very funny about what the near future might or might not hold, and has me thinking the same way) to go to movies by Nick Davis.
